The club has 'adopted a highway' which happens to be a street running from Garrisonville Rd to Mountain View Road in the Rock Hill District. Members meet at least two times per year to collect litter there. Open lots present the greatest challenge because owners of the many built upon lots take pride in and clean their own property.
In addition, members help with the semi-annual county effort of cleaning up along major streets and highways. Food and drink containers make up the bulk of the trash but 'pickers' can expect to find everything from apparel to animal carcasses.
May 5 is the day for the spring cleanup. Feel free to come help and have fellowship with others. Start at 9:00 am at Furnace Road and Garrisonville Road.
